Georgian Wine Online | Authentic Qvevri Wines
Georgia is widely considered the cradle of wine, with more than 8,000 years of continuous winemaking history. Located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, the country has preserved some of the world’s oldest wine traditions, including fermentation in qvevri, large clay vessels buried underground.
Georgian wines are known for their distinctive character, indigenous grape varieties, and traditional production methods. From powerful red wines made with Saperavi to elegant amber wines produced from Rkatsiteli, Georgian wines offer a unique alternative to conventional European wine styles.
At GeorgianWine.online, we offer a curated selection of authentic Georgian wines imported directly from small producers, with a focus on traditional qvevri wines and natural winemaking.

What Makes Georgian Wine Unique?
8,000 Years of Winemaking Tradition
Archaeological discoveries in Georgia show evidence of winemaking dating back more than 8,000 years, making it one of the oldest continuous wine cultures in the world. Wine has been an integral part of Georgian culture, religion, and hospitality for millennia.
The Traditional Qvevri Method
Many Georgian wines are fermented and aged in qvevri, large egg-shaped clay vessels buried underground. This ancient technique allows natural temperature regulation and extended contact between juice, skins, and seeds, producing wines with complex structure and distinctive aromas. In 2013, the traditional qvevri winemaking method was recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Indigenous Georgian Grape Varieties
Georgia is home to more than 500 native grape varieties, one of the richest collections of wine grapes in the world. Some of the most famous include:
-
Saperavi – a deeply colored red grape known for powerful structure and ageing potential
Rkatsiteli – a versatile white grape often used for amber wines
Kisi – an aromatic white variety producing complex natural wines
Mtsvane – known for elegant floral white wines
These grapes give Georgian wines a character that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
